Apollo Tyres withdraws FIA ETRC Championship Entry
Apollo Tyres Tor Truck Racing has decided to withdraw their entry for this season’s FIA European Truck Racing Championship due to the current situation surrounding COVID-19 and the uncertainty of the rescheduled rounds of the series taking place.
The team, based in Somerton, made the decision following lengthy discussions with the competition organisers, race team partners and staff.
The team manager Darrel Stamp released this official statement into the reasons of the withdrawal.
‘While disappointed that we are unable to compete this season, we understand the complexities of the situation. Our priority remains the safety and wellbeing of team members, staff and our race team partners in addition to the thousands of truck racing fans in Europe.
We will now move forward with our preparations for racing in the European Truck Racing Championship next season’.
The Apollo Tyres Tor Truck Racing team MAN will be an entrant into the recently released digital version of the European Truck Racing Championship, driver Shane Brereton will be in position for the ETRC Digital Racing Challenge virtual racing series streamed live on a number of social media channels and websites from the second round on the Slovakia Ring (21st June).
