Standout results for ultra-high-performance Vredestein winter tyre
The Vredestein Wintrac Pro was recently declared to be among the best in its field in three of Europe’s most prestigious tyre tests, conducted by the leading German magazines Auto Bild, Auto Motor und Sport and Autozeitung. Previously, shortly after its introduction, the Wintrac Pro also won the tyre test by Auto Bild Sportscars in October 2018.

The Wintrac Pro has done very well in the latest round of winter tyre tests carried out by German car magazines. It was among the top six out of 53 models in Auto Bild’s test, came in third place out of 11 in Auto Motor Sport’s test for compact SUVs, and also won the bronze in Autozeitung’s review. The three test results were all published in late September and early October.
Auto Bild’s winter tyre test put 53 models in the size 225/45 R17 through their paces. It first measured braking distance on snow and wet surfaces for each of the tyres to reach a shortlist of 20, which then underwent 16 trials in the four categories ‘snow’, ‘wet’, ‘dry’ and ‘price’. The Wintrac Pro was one of the six tyres which received the vorbildlich, or ‘exemplary’, mark in the test, doing particularly well on wet surfaces and providing a lot of safety on snow.
Auto Motor und Sport also tested 11 models for winter performance. Focused on compact SUV tyres in the size 215/55 R17, the test looked at 19 characteristics in the categories ‘snow’, ‘wet’, ‘dry’ and ‘environmental performance’. The Wintrac Pro came third and was particularly praised for its grip and cornering on dry and wet roads, and its safe performance and solid traction on snow.

Finally, Autozeitung looked at 13 ultra-high-performance winter models in size 225/55 R17. Its assessment also covered the range of the three main categories ‘snow’, ‘wet’ and ‘dry’. The Wintrac Pro, which won third place and landed in the highest category of sehr empfehlenswert or ‘highly recommended’ models, made an especially good showing in the dry and wet handling surface trials.
