Vredestein shines in Auto Express ‘All-Season’ tyre test

The Vredestein Quatrac has secured yet another significant industry accolade, achieving a podium place in the latest group test of all-season tyres by UK motoring magazine Auto Express. Underlining its credentials as a tyre engineered for safe and rewarding driving, The Quatrac also topped the rankings in the publication’s ‘wet handling’ and ‘dry handling’ test criteria, outperforming seven other leading tyre brands.

The Auto Express test was conducted using 205/55R16 tyres, designed for compact and small family cars, and evaluated each product’s ability to handle well in the wet, snow and dry, as well as for its noise levels, rolling resistance and value for money.

In its test summary, the Auto Express jurors said: “The Quatrac took a clean sweep of wins in our handling tests, finishing top in the wet and dry.” The magazine considered the levels of grip and traction affording by the tyres, on both the front and rear axles: “A strong front end was key to its win in wet handling, as the Quatrac combined the grip with a stable rear, allowing speed to be carried into turns without sliding wide offline.” They continued: “…good results in fuel economy and cabin noise secured the final podium spot overall.”

Vredestein’s all-season tyres are produced in Europe by Apollo Tyres, based in the Netherlands. Daniele Lorenzetti, Chief Technology Officer at Apollo Tyres, said: “Our prized line up of all-season tyres has yet again outperformed leading brands in rigorous tests. The team at Auto Express have covered all bases with their tests; we are particularly proud to see that the Quatrac has placed top in both wet and dry handling – both key criteria for our development team.”

Apollo Tyres significantly expanded its range of Vredestein all-season tyres this autumn in response to fast-growing demand. The company has launched tyres in 25 new dimensions for wheel diameters from 15 to 22 inches, expanding its three award-winning Vredestein all-season product ranges for compact and family cars and SUVs (Quatrac), high-performance cars and SUVs (Quatrac Pro), and for commercial vehicles (Comtrac 2 all-season+).

A winning record

In September Auto Zeitung, one of Germany’s leading motoring magazines, named the Vredestein Quatrac its joint ‘Best All-Season Tyre’ for 2021. The tyre, which also won the publication’s ‘Price-Performance Recommendation’, faced tough competition from eight other products in the popular all-season category. In its test review Auto Zeitung stated the Quatrac “is in a class of its own” on wet asphalt in a wide range of temperatures and highlighted the tyre’s high levels of grip even when driven at the limit. The publication added “the rolling resistance is low,” and on top of that it is “safe on snow and very good value.”

Last year the Quatrac was declared joint winner by Auto Bild Allrad in Germany in its prestigious annual tyre test, receiving the highest or second-highest mark in each of the fourteen test categories. In 2020 it also came second in a major test by Auto Bild of 32 all-season tyres.

Vredestein tyres have been at the forefront of the all-season tyre market since its inception in the early 1990s, benefitting from the company’s knowledge of winter and summer tyres to deliver premium performance capabilities whatever the conditions. The Vredestein brand now features on one of the most comprehensive and diverse portfolios of all-season tyres available.
